A new YouTube clip is making the rounds on Facebook and Twitter about National Geographic’s new show “How Hard Can It Be,” which features a real-life recreation of  the balloon house escape in Disney-Pixar’s Up! (2008).  This animated scene is so breathtaking, ground-breaking, and vibrant that it’s no wonder it has rekindled a child-like sense of  amazement that a house could really float away with enough helium, latex, and dreaming of Paradise Falls.

Art imitating life is par for the course, but animation can inspire in the real world, too. Perhaps you’re intrigued by Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle.  Afterall, who wouldn’t want a steampunk house that lumbers through the mists?  Or maybe the amusing antics of the Gecko in Disney’s Tangled encouraged you to train your own pet?  Curious minds want to know: How does animation inspire real life for you?
